Hjónabandssæla, or ‘happy marriage cake” or “wedded bliss cake” or “marital bliss cake” or “blissful marriage cake”… you get the idea, is simply an oatmeal cake with homemade rhubarb jam cake and whipped cream at the top. The first mention of the cake is from 1950.

Icelandic hot dog as most Icelanders do and yours will be served on a warm, steamed bun topped with raw white onions and crispy fried onions, ketchup, sweet brown mustard called pylsusinnep, and remoulade, a sauce made with mayo, capers, mustard, and herbs.

Crispy waffles with a fluffy topped  whipped cream and with homemade jam. Try coffee, te og hot cocoa with the waffle.

We made soup and grill the bread. The soup is vegetable mexican/tomato soup with good flavor and a lot of vegateble. Warm bread comes with the soup.

Kleina are traditional Icelandic donuts, and recipes go back as far as the 14th century.  Long before kitchen ovens were common in home appliances, these special treats were made on the stovetop for special occasions.  These days, kleina (plural: kleinur) are everywhere in Iceland, and they’re part of the everyday cuisine.

Forget about the weather, Ice cream in Iceland is a must.  Creamy ice cream with several flavour.
